Our Longarms
Our longarm department offers longarm rentals, certification, and custom machine quilting.
Longarm Rentals & Certification
Upon completion of the Longarm/Q Series Certification Class, you can rent time on our BERNINA longarm machines.
Rental is $25 per hour for our frame model and $20 per hour for our sit-down model. Upon registering for your first hour (non-refundable), you have reserved the entire day. Payment for your rental time ($25 or $20 per hour as noted above) is due upon the completion of your project.
Bring your completed quilt top and backing. The backing is to be 5'' larger on all sides, squared, and ready to quilt. You must select and purchase your batting from Chestnut Ridge Sewing. Thread is provided and included in the rental fee.
A certification instructor will be present during your rental time to monitor your progress on the Q Series machine and offer assistance as needed.
When working with the Q Series frame, quilters will purchase a set of reusable supplemental leaders from Chestnut Ridge Sewing.
Edge-to-Edge Machine Quilting
Batting and thread will be provided by Chestnut Ridge Sewing (included in quote).
CRS has a variety of 108'' backings.
Backing must be prepared with the following considerations:
- 1. If pieced, the seam allowance must be 1/2'' width
- 2. The piecing runs horizontally across the quilt back
- 3. The piecing seam is pressed open
- 4. The backing is squared and trimmed to 10'' overall larger than your quilt top (equivalent to 5'' larger on each side)

- $25.00 fee for pressing quilt top or backing as needed
- $15.00 for CRS to piece backing (rate is per seam)
- Rate is $0.025 per square inch with a minimum charge of $40.00 (overall design)
Edge-to-Edge Machine Quilting - Bags & Totes
The material you wish to use, such as batting, foam, or other, will be purchased from Chestnut Ridge Sewing.
Backing is your choice but must be 5'' larger on all sides.
Additional information:
- $25.00 fee for pressing top or backing as needed
- Rate is $0.025 per square inch with a minimum charge of $25.00 (overall design)
